Twin Cities Film Fest 2026: Minnesota Stories Take Center Stage

Article by Becky Fillinger

Lights, camera, Minnesota! The 17th annual Twin Cities Film Fest runs through October 24, bringing more than 110 films to the big screen and online, with a substantial lineup of stories connected to Minnesota. Screenings take place at Marcus West End Cinema in St. Louis Park and Edina Mann Theatre, but there are select films also available for streaming. The Streams Pass is only $60 - view 48 films from the comfort of your own home!

One standout is A Month in Minnesota, a 39-minute documentary directed by Annie Sundberg. Beginning with the fatal shootings in Minneapolis by ICE agents, the film explores the spontaneous response and acts of resistance by Minnesotans, raising questions about civic responsibility, moral courage and what it means to stand up for others. The in-person viewings are sold out but streaming was easy and convenient, allowing me to enjoy a well-made documentary about what we all lived through earlier this year.

The festival also features The Immigrant Rapid Response Fund: 15 Million in 90 Days, another Minnesota-connected documentary examining community response and support for immigrants. Many of the films have Minnesota themes – you’ll see the people, challenges and ideas faced by and shaping our state. but time is wasting.

Take a look at the schedule and make a plan to see your favorites.
