Klassics Kitchen & Cocktails Debuts Guyanese-Inspired Fall Menu

Braised Oxtails - Jamaican-inspired oxtails slow-braised with pimento, fresh thyme, garlic, peppers, onions, and carrots in a rich pan gravy. Served with coconut yellow rice, fried sweet plantains and house pepper sauce.

Klassics Kitchen & Cocktails introduces “Date Night in Queens” - a bold new fall menu celebrating Caribbean-American comfort

Klassics Kitchen & Cocktails, 428 S 2nd Street, is welcoming the fall season with an exciting new food and cocktail menu inspired by “Date Night in Queens,” a culinary love letter to the vibrant Guyanese communities of Queens, New York. Created by Chef Gerard Klass, the new menu celebrates Caribbean heritage, American comfort food, and the creativity of a chef-driven dining experience.

Located in the Mill District, Klassics continues to distinguish itself through bold flavors, thoughtful presentations, and an atmosphere where food, cocktails, music, and culture come together.

Yakamien - New Orleans style noodle soup, slow braised brisket, spaghetti, boiled egg & savory creole broth.

A Culinary Journey from Queens to Minneapolis

Inspired by the Guyanese-American communities of Queens, the fall menu explores the intersection of Caribbean cooking traditions, Southern influences, and contemporary American cuisine.

Guests can discover dishes such as Braised Oxtails, slow-cooked with pimento, fresh thyme, garlic, peppers, onions, and carrots, served over coconut yellow rice with fried sweet plantains. Another standout is New Orleans Yakamien, featuring slow-braised brisket, spaghetti, savory Creole broth, and boiled egg — a soulful interpretation of a Louisiana classic.

Other menu highlights include:

● Collard Green Carbonara: A creative fusion of Southern comfort and Italian tradition featuring beef bacon, roasted broccoli, arugula, Manchego, spaghetti, and cracked black pepper.

● Guyanese Pepperpot: Slow-braised beef in a rich cassareep-spiced broth, served with sweet potato-coconut grits and toasted baguette.

● Georgetown Stir-Fry: A Guyanese-Chinese-inspired dish featuring wok-fried vegetables, honey-garlic soy glaze, coconut yellow rice, and a choice of protein.

● Peri-Peri Crab Cakes: Served with corn salsa, sriracha crema, and herb oil.

"Our inspiration was Date Night in Queens — the energy, the culture, and the incredible food that comes from Guyanese neighborhoods in New York. I wanted to bring those flavors to Minneapolis while putting our own creative spin on them. We're a chef-driven restaurant, and every dish should tell a story while still delivering the comfort and flavor that makes people want to come back." Chef Gerard Klass

A Cocktail Menu Created by Brittney Klass

Complementing the new food menu is The Fall Klassics, a seasonal cocktail collection developed by Brittney Klass. The lineup combines familiar spirits with unexpected ingredients, fall spices, and playful names.

Highlights include Peach Don't Kill My Vibe, a peach cobbler cognac margarita; Fig-ure It Out, a fig brown sugar Old Fashioned; Sweet Thang, a sweet potato chai-tini; and Sweater Weather, a refreshing fig spritz featuring St-Germain, prosecco, lemon, and fresh mint.

The restaurant also features signature margarita and martini flights alongside a selection of creative zero-proof cocktails.

More Reasons to Experience Klassics This Fall

Beyond the new menu, Klassics offers several ways for guests to enjoy the restaurant throughout the week:

  • Happy Hour: Monday through Friday, 3–6pm, offering an opportunity to unwind with cocktails and great food.
  • Sunday Brunch: Every Sunday from 11am–3pm, bringing the Klassics experience to weekend dining.
