The Riverwalk Tour explores the Mill District and St. Anthony on Main in Northeast Minneapolis. You'll enjoy the afternoon sampling a variety of food at historical landmarks, as well as visit the Mill City Museum, stroll by the Guthrie, and enjoy gorgeous views of St. Anthony Falls while crossing the Stone Arch Bridge into historical St. Anthony on Main.
You'll learn about the history of both these neighborhoods including a stroll along the oldest street in Minneapolis. Taste and chat with other food-loving guests, and leave the tour with an appreciation for these distinct neighborhoods.

Out of the Box and into Your Head: A Look at Television Writing, Then & Now
Television writing, from the sublime to the ridiculous, has shaped our experience of America. In the course of its nearly 60 year history, the "cool" medium has acted as both social commentary and comic relief for one of the most heterogeneous societies in history, and this presentation will attempt to come to general terms with its specific effects. From the first Golden Age of Chayefsky, Vidal and Foote to the New Golden Age of Chase and Simon and Milch, TV writers have used the intimacy of this homebound medium to do what Zola and Dickens once did, provoke empathy for "the Other." The medium's great clowns, Kovacs and Berle, Simon and Gelbart kept us laughing, even through the tears of the post-war era, and all of these scribes have taught us more than we might imagine about democracy's heart, mind, body and soul.
Stephen Molton is a professor of television writing and producing at Long Island University's TV Writers Studio MFA program in Brooklyn. An author, screenwriter, producer and former HBO and Showtime executive, Molton has written books (Brave Talk, Brothers in Arms: The Kennedys, the Castros and the Politics of Murder), created mini-series and movies (Live By the Sword, Weaveworld, Stealth) and produced documentaries (L.A. Homefront: The Fires Within, Generation 9/11) during his 35-year career in the arts.

Threads Dance Project - Dance Rhapsody
Threads Dance Project embarks on its third season show “Dance Rhapsody”. The show is a collection of dances that allows the audiences to explore and experience beauty, loss, love and more. The show includes the premiere of “Humanity & Elysian Fields Avenue” - a haunting work about Hurricane Katrina and her impact on the people of New Orleans and the gulf region, performed to music by New Orleans jazz composer and Grammy award-winning musician Terence Blanchard.

A Wine Affair: Passport to Wines
You’re invited to enjoy six delicious wine samples from Chile, Italy and Spain, paired with six exquisite dinner courses and a dessert bar with a special seventh wine sample. All this food, wine tastings, a coffee bar and a cash bar are included in the ticket price. There also will be musical entertainment and martini specials for your enjoyment. The environment is relaxed -- you eat at your own pace and move on to the next course when you are ready. There will be three chef stations, each serving a first and second course. This safari begins 30 minutes before local sunset (your tour confirmation will have an exact time). We meet at Mill Ruins Park on the west bank of the river. The Safari runs about 90 minutes on Thursday and Friday Nights.

We start by photographing this interesting park, then walk across the famous Stone Arch bridge to photograph the Minneapolis night skyline. We will learn the principles of low light settings on your digital SLR's or the various "scene" mode settings of your digital point and shoot camera.

Ten Thousand Things presents Measure for Measure
Fourteen years ago, Measure for Measure was Ten Thousand Things’ first Shakespeare production. Now, after a successful co-production of the play with The Public Theater in New York in 2010, the company brings a new production to new audiences in the Twin Cities in fall 2012.
The show begins its tour to prisons, low-income centers and shelters September 13 and concludes with four weekends of public performances at Open Book September 27–October 21 (exception: October 18 at Plymouth Congregational Church). Artistic Director Michelle Hensley directs Shakespeare’s look at the inadequacy of human efforts to render good justice. Featured in the cast are Luverne Seifert, Sonja Parks, Suzanne Warmanen, India Gurley, Nathan Barlow, Karen Wiese-Thompson, Zach Curtis and Kurt Kwan. Peter Vitale is the music director.
