June 3, 2014, Tuesday - Transportation on Tap: The Next Wave of Transit at Republic

Time: 5:00pm - 7:00pm

Location: Republic, 221 Cedar Ave S

On Tuesday, June 3, Transit for Livable Communities welcomes you back to Republic for our second Transportation on Tap event of the year! Enjoy light appetizers on us and talk bike, walk, bus, and rail with other TLC members and friends. Our topic this month is The Next Wave of Transit.

In just a few short weeks, the opening of the Green Line will mark a monumental moment in the Twin Cities’s transit trajectory—but what’s next? How will specific transit plans and priorities shape the future of our cities? And how do we keep up the momentum for expanding transit options throughout the metro?

This Transportation on Tap, TLC has invited panelists from the City of Minneapolis, Metro Transit, and the City of Saint Paul to discuss the next wave of transit and transportation in the Twin Cities. We’ll focus on immediate plans for new bus rapid transit and modern streetcar service, including how bike/ped access and community engagement factor into upcoming projects. Bring your questions for another lively conversation!

All are welcome, but RSVPs are always appreciated.

Featured Panel:

Michelle Beaulieu, City Planner, City of Saint Paul
Katie Roth, Senior Planner, Metro Transit
Peter Wagenius, Policy Director, City of Minneapolis
Dave Van Hattum (moderator), Senior Policy Advocate, Transit for Livable Communities

June 3, 2014, Tuesday - West Bank Interpretive Plan Meeting at MPRB

Time: 6:00pm to 7:30pm

Location: MPRB Headquarters Board Room, 2117 West River Road North

The St Anthony Fall Heritage Board is currently conducting an interpretive study of the West Bank area of Central Mississippi Riverfront Regional Park.  There will be an advisory committee meeting to gather input for this plan on June 3, 2014.  This West Bank effort is similar to the East Bank Interpretive Plan completed last fall.  This plan is funded by the St. Anthony Falls Heritage Board.  The meeting is open to the public. Please join us!

Excerpt from the East Bank Interpretive Plan: “This plan builds on years of research and many proposed visions for the St. Anthony Falls area. In particular, The Power of the Falls: Renewing the Vision for St. Anthony Falls Heritage Zone (2009) sets forth a set of interpretive themes that acknowledge the value of reflection and personal experience in learning about this important place in our history.”
