Construction Updates
Driving to the Market? Just a heads up that South 2nd street between Chicago and Park will be closed for the next 1-2 weeks. Chicago and Park streets will still be open, as well as the parking garage and surface lot across the street from the Museum,  but there will be no thru traffic on 2nd Street between Chicago and Park.

A solider returns from a long war and must navigate a very changed world in Kira Obolensky’s new comedy, Forget Me Not When Far Away, premiering with Ten Thousand Things (TTT) this spring. TTT Artistic Director Michelle Hensley will direct the show, featuring Ron Menzel, Shá Cage, Sun Mee Chomet, Annie Enneking, Elise Langer and Karen Wiese-Thompson. Music/sound is by Peter Vitale and Annie Enneking, sets are by Irve Dell, costumes by Sonya Berlovitz and choreography by Jim Lichtscheidl. This is the third play Obolensky has written specifically for TTT’s unique production style. She has been serving as playwright-in-residence with the company for the past two years; this is the third and final year of her residency.

Tickets for the public performances of Forget Me Not When Far Away are $30. For audience members under 30, a pay-what-you-can option is available for every performance.

May 28, 2015, Thursday - Twin Cities River Rats Waterski Show Season Opener

The 2015 Twin Cities River Rats shows are scheduled for 7pm most Thursday nights through August 27, and take place at 1758 West River Road N (between the Plymouth and Broadway bridges).

About the Show

6:30pm – Development show - Our members under the age of 18 and our new members get the opportunity to perform for the crowd before jumping into the “big” show.

7:00pm – The Big Show! - The ski show is a 1 hour long themed-show. In between daring and beautiful acts on water, a storyline unfolds. We encourage audience participation and love applause!

8:00pm – Photos! - Photo opportunities with the cast of the show, visit with the skiers, and even take a ride in our “triple-rig” boat (for a price!)

Note: An RSVP to this event is appreciated, but please also fill out the sign-up form linked in the "Tickets" field.

Do you like the Loft? Do you enjoy lip-syncing and grooving to funky 70s tunes? Do you want to help the Loft celebrate and promote its upcoming 40th Anniversary?

If you answered 'yes', then we have an opportunity for you.

On Thursday, May 28, from 5:30-7 p.m., the Loft will be filming a lipdub video* to the Earth Wind and Fire song Shining Star, which came out in 1975, the same year the Loft incorporated.

We want to have as many people involved as possible. Here are the requirements:
 + Ability to be at the Loft from 5:30-7 on Thursday, May 28 (Optional Social Hour w/liquid courage and refreshments starts at 5.)
 + Ability to familiarize yourself with the song enough to successfully lip-synch
 + Strong desire to wear any clothing vaguely from the 70s era, even if it's just a scarf around the neck
 + Eagerness to groove your heart out on camera in Open Book
 + Good attitude and flexibility and desire to have fun

On Wednesday, May 27, 2015 the City of Minneapolis will be hosting a public meeting at Pohlad Hall/Central Library from 6:00-7:30 p.m. to unveil the preferred design approach for the Downtown Commons.

The preferred design approach will be presented by Hargreaves Associates, the nationally and internationally recognized landscape architecture firm the City hired to lead the project after a competitive Request for Proposal process. The draft approaches will incorporate feedback the Hargreaves-led design team received during a public meetings that took place on February 24 & April 8, and the 2,350+ surveys completed to date (online surveys will be accepted through March 31, 2015), and community outreach done by City staff.

Walker’s music comes from a different time, a different place and a different point of view. He’s one of the few vocalists from the era that is still standing and that can still sing. And the fact that we’re north of Chicago, there aren’t many people in this town that has a past like Walker.

Most recently, Willie has collaborated with the legendary Twin Cities-based soul/blues/R & B powerhouse The Butanes.  Together, they recorded three highly acclaimed modern soul records and toured the Netherlands, Switzerland and Japan.  He also fronts his own R & B unit, Willie Walker and We “R” with whom he has a monthly residency at the Minnesota Music Café in St. Paul.  Willie has also partnered up with Minnesota’s own Paul Metsa, renowned singer, songwriter, author and teller of tales.  It’s just Paul’s guitar work and Willie’s voice interpreting everything from “Blowin’ In The Wind” and “My Girl” to “What A Wonderful World” and “Good Time Charlie’s Got The Blues.”
