Riverfront Vitality Forum: Water Over the Dam
Hosted by Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership and Preserve Minneapolis
What does the future hold for St. Anthony Falls?
St. Anthony Falls has been a center of development along this part of the Mississippi River for more than two centuries, and part of a cultural heritage since long before that. As we bring our Riverfront Vitality Forum series into 2017, we're starting with a discussion of the past, present and future of this centerpiece of the Minneapolis riverfront.
Water Over the Dam, to be held the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 28, will present a discussion of the different ways that our community depends on water flowing over the falls. We'll talk about the falls from the Native American perspective, the industrial perspective, the recreational perspective and the economic one. Come join us!
Panelists include Peggy Lucas, co-founder of Brighton Development and a U of M Regent; Darlene St. Clair, professor of American Indian Studies at St. Cloud State; Dan Dressler, public programs manager, Mississippi National River and Recreation Area, part of the National Park Service; Neal Route, development associate for Dominium, owners of the Pillsbury A-Mill. Richard Kronick, an architectural historian and member of the board of Preserve Minneapolis, which is co-presenting this forum with Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership, will moderate the panel.
Registration is not required, but will help us plan.

Since 1983, Minnesota AIDS Project (MAP) has been a leader in Minnesota’s fight against HIV through prevention, advocacy, awareness and services. Our work provides the resources necessary to prevent HIV and paves the way to a Minnesota where new HIV infections are eliminated and those living with HIV live long, healthy lives.
We believe this cause belongs to all of us and that it takes the power of community to make true progress. We walk for our loved ones, for our neighbors, for the stories of strangers. We walk to educate. We walk to breathe new truths into tired stigmas. We walk for a cause that belongs to all of us. That’s why we walk, and that’s why we ask you to walk with us.
Join the Minnesota AIDS Walk this winter for a multi-sensory immersion in poetry, music, interactive art and more. By the glow of candlelight at dusk, we’ll embark on a tranquil walk along Boom Island, closing with a transformational vigil. With full hearts and reflective minds, we’ll celebrate the progress we’ve made and will continue to make—united in the fight against HIV.
