90-Second Newbery Film Festival
Welcome to the sixth annual 90-Second Newbery Film Festival—a yearly video contest in which kid filmmakers create weird short movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery award-winning books in about 90 seconds.
We screen the best movies annually in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Boston, and many other cities—including Minneapolis!
Make your FREE reservation to the MINNEAPOLIS screening of this year's 90-Second Newbery! The screening is hosted by film festival founder and children's author James Kennedy (The Order of Odd-Fish) along with author Keir Graff (Matchstick Castle) with very special co-host, the winner of the 2017 Newbery Medal, Minnesota's own Kelly Barnhill (The Girl Who Drank the Moon).
The movies we've received are hilarious, ingenious, and inspiring. We'll be showing movies received from Minnesota and the best from around the the country!
This year, the Minneapolis 90-Second Newbery will screen on Saturday, February 25 from 3-5 pm at the Minneapolis Central Library (300 Nicollet Mall) in Pohlad Hall.
On-site book sales by Addendum Books.
Tickets are free! However, we recommend reserving your seat in advance to ensure admittance.
