Returning for a fifth year, this November 16-19, 2017, Cine Latino is among the key showcases of Ibero and Ibero-American cinema in the United States. This year, screenings and events will take place at the Film Society’s hub, the St. Anthony Main Theatre in Downtown Minneapolis MN, as well as other venues across the Twin Cities (TBD).

Presented by the Film Society of Minneapolis St. PaulCine Latino is Minnesota’s largest showcase of Spanish-language cinema from around the world, featuring new narrative and documentary films from some of the world’s most acclaimed and up-and-coming Spanish-language filmmakers.

Cine Latino 2017 will offer another rich tapestry of stories from across the vast cultural, social and historical landscape that is Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula, taking us on a journey across geography, history, age, gender, social and political issues and the complexities of human relationships. The 2017 showcase will have a focus on Mexican cinema.

Celebrate the official opening of the new Nicollet

City officials, business leaders and the public are invited to gather to celebrate the official opening of the new Nicollet, a project that will be completed on time and on budget. The celebration will feature remarks by Mayor Betsy Hodges, City Council members and Steve Cramer, president and CEO of the mpls downtown council/Downtown Improvement District, among other project stakeholders.

The reconstructed street in the heart of downtown Minneapolis designed by James Corner Field Operations showcases a more modern, durable and elegant street with several new pedestrian amenities, including the largest display of public artwork outside of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, twice the amount of greening with nearly 250 new trees and new LED lighting.

The funding for the public/private partnership includes $25 million in downtown property assessments, $21.5 million in state bonding and $3.5 million from the City of Minneapolis. The new Nicollet has already attracted more than $300 million in private investment.

Minnesota Distance Running at US Bank Stadium

Doors Open 4:45pm. Each session will run from 5pm to 8pm and cost $3 cash at the door per person. Capacity is 250 runners at a time, additional runners will be able to enter as previous runners leave.
Distance: 696.63m inside lane, 726.55m outside lane. Individuals participating at the Minnesota Distance Running events must be running. Walking during the event is not allowed, except for cooling down post-run. Strollers are prohibited.
