Women in Sport Film Festival featuring "Battle of the Sexes"

It is well documented that women's sport and female athletes are underrepresented in the sport media and in mainstream feature films. The Tucker Center Film Festival (TCFF), the first of its kind to highlight women in sport films, was established in 2011 and is presented in conjunction with the annual celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The purpose of the event is to celebrate and create awareness for films and documentaries related to girls and women in sport.

Consistent with our mission to provide outreach and programming for the community The TCFF is free, open to the public, and family friendly.

Minnesota Distance Running at US Bank Stadium

Doors Open 4:45pm. Each session will run from 5pm to 8pm and cost $3 cash at the door per person. Capacity is 250 runners at a time, additional runners will be able to enter as previous runners leave.
Distance: 696.63m inside lane, 726.55m outside lane. Individuals participating at the Minnesota Distance Running events must be running. Walking during the event is not allowed, except for cooling down post-run. Strollers are prohibited.

Valentines Day at MCBA = sweets and books. Enjoy Pinky’s Sweet Tooth by Michele Malkin and then bind books using REAL sweets! Licorice whip stitch books. Candy stick binding books. Lollipop on a stick books. Snack-sized chocolate bar books. And books with candy wrapper covers – after you eat the two candies. Join Ellen Ferrari for Saturday and Sunday mornings of family book arts fun! Each workshop starts off with a story and game to warm up your creativity and then dives into book arts projects. Workshops accommodate a range of developmental levels so that adults and children (or) adult/child teams may choose to work together or side-by-side. Each participant receives supplies to use during the workshop, but may choose to bring one set home if working with his or her partner. Ellen will provide older children with suggestions for extending their learning. For families with children ages 2 and up. Adult/child pair: $40 ($35 members) + $5 supply fee; additional participant (adult or child): $20 ($17.50) + $2.50 supply fee.

MacPhail Spotlight Series: Flirting with Sondheim

Stephen Sondheim is, without a doubt, one of America’s most accomplished musicians. This program is a tribute to his versatile genius, both as lyricist and composer.

MacPhail performers will regale audiences with scenes and arias from his most beloved works, including West Side StoryCompanyInto the Woods, and Little Night Music. The repertoire was chosen with an eye to Valentine’s Day. So the concert’s secondary theme is love, but always with Sondheim’s signature realism and witty touch.
