September 29, 2011, Thursday - “Presence” A Multimedia Performance about the Dakota People at Mill City Museum

Time: 8:30pm, Doors Open at 7:00pm

Location: Mill City Museum, 704 2nd Street South

Enjoy a multimedia performance using video projections, spoken word, readings, pre-recorded sounds and music. “Presence” evokes the Dakota people’s long, many-layered presence along the Mississippi River. Pre-show music will be provided by classical guitarist Cantemaza (Neil McKay).

Developed by award-winning artist Mona Smith, a member of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Dakota, the performance is offered in conjunction with “Cloudy Waters: Dakota Reflections on the River,” a new audio installation in Mill City’s Ruin Courtyard. “Cloudy Waters” and “Presence” are supported by a grant from the St. Anthony Falls Heritage Board.

Both the performance and the audio installation are FREE.
