October 9, 2012, Tuesday - An Evening of Fine Wine & Fine Books at MCBA

Time: 6:00pm - 9:00pm

Location: Minnesota Center for Book Arts, 1011 Washington Avenue South

An Evening of Fine Wine & Fine Books

This event -- our 7th annual -- is dedicated to fostering the collection of artist's books. The evening will showcase new work from more than 100 artists from around the world, including Friedrich Kerksieck / Small Fires Press (Memphis, TN), Shana Agid (Brooklyn, NY), Dennis Ichiyama (West Lafayette, IN), CB Sherlock (Minneapolis, MN), Peter and Donna Thomas (Santa Cruz, CA), Redfox Press (Achill Island, Ireland), Scott McCarney (Rochester, NY), and many more. This event offers something for everyone, from the most seasoned collector to the newest enthusiast, with items at a wide variety of price points.

Join local art publishing house Location Books at 7pm, when they will present their newest publication, As It Is Again by acclaimed photographer JoAnn Verburg. This book (an iPad app) marks their first foray into e-book publishing. Artist-publishers Scott Nedrelow and Ruben Nusz will talk about this step away from the codex format, and show some of their previous collaborations with other local and national artists.

Also: while enjoying delectable wines, cheeses and other refreshments, learn more about the MCBA Collectors Forum, an affinity group designed to encourage the collection and appreciation of artist's books, fine press publishing and other limited edition publications. As a member you will receive invitations to members-only events such as artist receptions, topical lectures and tours of private collections; use of MCBA's extensive library and artist's book archives; and a special preview reception at the annual Fine Wine and Fine Books event. There is no cost to become a member of the Collectors Forum. Contact Executive Director Jeff Rathermel at jrathermel@mnbookarts.org for more information or to become a member.
