October 25, 2012, Thursday - Dr. Gwen Westerman: We Are Still Here at Central Library
Time: 7:00pm–8:00pm
Location: Doty Board Room, Central Library, 300 Nicollet Mall
The Dakota people have lived in Minnesota the longest –their history going back hundreds of years, but after the U. S. Dakota War, only a few Dakota remained in the state, most having been sent to a reservation in South Dakota and later Nebraska. This era is only a small part of their long rich history.
Join us as Dakota artist, poet, scholar Dr. Gwen Westerman shares her perspective on modern Dakota people and their special place in Minnesota.
