Buddhism in Daily Life

How can 2,500 year old teachings on mind be useful for busy and productive Westerners in modern times? What benefit does a 20 minute meditation session have for people too distracted by the overwhelming and never-ending inbox?

Though Buddhism, evokes images of peaceful monks, and serene retreats, the Buddha's practical and relevant advice, can be used in the here and now, without exotic pretenses, and with massive benefits to those who wish to bring benefit to themselves and the world around them.

Presented by the Diamond Way Buddhist Center of Minneapolis, "Buddhism in Daily Life," is an introduction to Buddhism and provides context, and a working basis, for using Buddha's teaching, the dharma, in our every day modern lives.  The lecture by, international traveling teacher, Macarena Gonzalez Costa, will be about an hour in length, and will provide the prospective of a lay-Buddhist practicing Tibetan Buddhism (Karma Kagyü Lineage), in daily life.

Following the lecture, we will provide time for questions, and we will conclude the evening with a short, (10-15 minute) guided, and formed meditation, on a Buddha aspect.  No experience necessary and all are welcome to attend.

We are very pleased to host, lay Buddhist teacher, Macarena Gonzalez Costa of Argentina, for a night of teachings, questions, and meditation.  Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1981, Macarena, took refuge in 2003 with Lama Ole Nydahl of the Karma Kagyü lineage and became his student. In 2012 Lama Ole asked her to teach and to share her experience as a buddhist. She lives in Buenos Aires where she works as a freelance graphic designer.

The Diamond Way Buddhist Center of Minneapolis, belongs to an international non-profit network of over 600 lay Diamond Way Buddhist centers of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, founded by Lama Ole Nydahl and under the spiritual guidance of H.H. the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje.

Diamond Way Buddhism offers practical and effective methods to realize mind's inherent richness for the benefit of all. With an accessible and modern style, it works with people's confidence and desire, using every situation in life to develop fearlessness and joy. We always present a basic introduction for newcomers, and the meditations are guided in English.
