We strongly encourage EARLY drop off- to give us time to hang and sort everything. Early drop off gives you a reduced $10 admission fee- plus a $10 coupon towards a future purchase at the Pearl!😁 Regular admission (at the door) is $15- bring your items with you the night of the swap.

This is one of our best events folks, giving you access to a large pool of fashionable people’s goods. It does get a bit competitive and there will be a fitting room line so be prepared! We want ALL types of clothing. THEY DO NOT NEED TO BE VINTAGE!

Also we frequently are asked if there will be larger sizes and men’s clothes. We really hope so! Please tell your friends of all genders and let’s get this one full of clothing for everyone🥰 We'll post pictures here as items start streaming in. See ya there✌

May 21, 2019, Tuesday - Open House: Learn about Metro Transit's E-Line at Marcy Open Elementary

Time: 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM

Location: Marcy Open Elementary, 415 4th Avenue SE

Open House: Learn about Metro Transit's E-Line

The METRO E Line is a bus rapid transit project that will provide faster and more reliable transit service along a large portion of Route 6. The E Line would follow the Hennepin Avenue corridor in downtown Minneapolis and Uptown.

In late 2018 Metro Transit began evaluating more segments of Route 6 as potential end points. Based on the evaluation, we have narrowed down to three potential routing options on the south end and are recommending that the E Line continue along University Avenue and 4th Street SE to the north.

Join us at this Open House (no formal presentation, come anytime) to learn more about the routing options being advanced for further consideration and some early ideas about connecting bus service.

May 21, 2019, Tuesday - Work Redux | BODIES at Machine Shop

Time: 7:30 AM – 10:30 AM

Location: Machine Shop, 300 2nd St SE

Work Redux | BODIES

Bodies. We all have them. Yes, they come in different sizes, colors, abilities, genders, and so forth. But one thing holds true for all bodies—they absorb our every experience, and that gives shape to who we are inside our bodies.

But what are we to do when life, and especially work, hasn’t been designed to make room for the unique beauty our bodies carry? It’s not a radical statement to say that traditional work culture could really care less about our bodies.

From the trauma our bodies hold due to disease, PTSD, or oppression, to how we heal our bodies, to growing movements in body positivity, Work Redux | BODIES will help us shed the layers of shame we carry for not meeting whatever expectations others put on us. We’ll hear from our speakers on how they’ve made room for their unique bodies, and are working to create that space for others. We’ll discuss what we can do as individuals to find and demand acceptance for our own bodies. And we’ll identify ways we can hold our work cultures accountable for nurturing every body.

May 21, 2019, Tuesday - Boom Island-Nicollet Island Bridge Reopening Commemoration

The Boom Island-Nicollet Island Bridge was repaired last year

Repair of historic bridge connecting Boom Island Park and Nicollet Island to be celebrated on May 21 at 4 pm

Join Commissioner Chris Meyer and the Northeast Minneapolis community on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 4 pm to officially celebrate the reopening of the historic Boom Island-Nicollet Island Bridge after a repair project. The event will feature a brief program featuring local officials, a ribbon-cutting and light refreshments.

Event invitation

The Boom Island-Nicollet Island Bridge reopened last November after an extensive repair project revitalized the 118-year-old structure. In April, work resumed to complete remaining work at the site, like grading and turf establishment, concrete abutment work, paint touch-ups, and electrical work.

About the Boom Island-Nicollet Island Bridge

The current trail connection between Boom Island Park and Nicollet Island was originally built in 1901 as a railroad bridge. In the 1970s, the rail yard it served was cleared and the bridge was given to the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, which converted it to a pedestrian and bicycle bridge in the 1980s.

In late 2013, the bridge was closed to emergency and maintenance vehicles after significant deterioration was discovered during an inspection. Emergency repairs were completed in July 2015 and permanent repairs were performed May-November 2018.

May 21, 2019, Tuesday - Pull Garlic Mustard at the River Gorge Sand Flats

Time: 6 – 8 pm

Location: River Gorge Sand Flats

Friends of the Mississippi River presents: Pull Garlic Mustard at the Gorge Sand Flats

Join FMR for an evening of invasive species removal at the Minneapolis river gorge sand flats, known for their large sandy beaches and wonderful river-edge view. Working alongside FMR staff, volunteers will remove garlic mustard – an exotic plant invading many areas of the river gorge and outcompeting native plant species. Although a serious threat, garlic mustard is not only easy to identify but quick to pull by hand. Volunteers will be pleased to see a dramatic difference in ground cover by the end of this event – improving both water quality and wildlife habitat. As always, organizers will provide any necessary tools and training. All are welcome; however, capacity is limited, and registration required. This event is supported by the local neighborhood group, the Longfellow Community Council, and Longfellow area residents are encouraged to attend. The event is also part of the Gorge Stewards program, which actively engages citizens throughout the Twin Cities in the stewardship of the national treasure that is the Mississippi River Gorge. New this year at FMR volunteer events: invasive species collector's cards! Each card features all the specifics you need to ID a plant in the field plus tips on how to stop invasion. Fits in your pocket. Use it at events or in your own yard (or show it off at parties). Collect all four by signing up for events featuring each invasive. (Bonus: You'll also gain SuperVolunteer status.) Collect the first of the series, garlic mustard, at this event.

This event is open to all. No experience is necessary; all tools and training will be provided.

May 19, 2019, Sunday - Dandelion Day at Ard Godfrey House

Time: 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Location: Ard Godfrey House, Chute Park (across from Lund's)

Dandelion Day

The annual Dandelion Day celebration features face painting, dandelion necklaces, tours of the historic house with costumed guides, free recipe booklets and Godfrey House buttons for the kids.

The Ard Godfrey House is the oldest wood frame house existing in Minneapolis. This Greek Revival-style home was built by millwright Ard Godfrey in 1848, near the corner of Main Street and Second Avenue SE. The house was moved several times before arriving in Chute Square Park in 1909. Ard Godfrey helped build the first dam and sawmill which put the waterfall of St. Anthony to use in 1848. He was also the first Postmaster in the village of St. Anthony. His wife is credited with bringing dandelions to Minnesota, as she did import dandelion seeds from Maine, which would be useful in her recipes for such things as Dandelion Bread and Dandelion Tea.

The house will be open Saturdays and Sundays in June, July and August, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Call 612-813-5300 for more information.
