Location: Chuck and Don’s Pet Food Outlet, 335 Central Avenue NE (by Lund's)

Celebrate Halloween at our new Northeast Minneapolis store. There will be snacks and beverages provided by local vendors. The first 50 guests will receive a swag bag that includes Chuck & Don's promotional items, dog/cat food samples, Chuck's Bucks ($5 off a $25 purchase), paw print bracelets and more. Get your photo taken with Chuck and Bob, we will e-mail the photo to you.

We'll take donations to Beltrami dog park, for every $1 donation get a $2 Chuck's Buck. There will be drawings for $20 Chuck & Don's Gift Cards every half hour. Minneapolis Animal Care and Control will be providing info and selling pet licenses. ID tags will be printed free. We invite you to bring your pet in costume!

Celebrate United Nations Day with Sesame Street's We All Sing with the Same Voice and create books from around the world. Sew a Japanese rice paper book. Fold a Mexican curandero book. String a Southeast Asian slatted palm book. Roll up an Ethiopian wish scroll. And other great books from other great countries!

Join Ellen Ferrari for Saturday mornings of family book arts fun! Each workshop starts off with a story and game to warm up your creativity and then dives into a book arts project. Workshops accommodate a range of developmental levels so that adults and children (or) adult/child teams may choose to work together or side-by-side. Each participant receives supplies to use during the workshop, but may choose to bring one set home if working with his or her partner. Ellen will provide older children with suggestions for extending their learning.

7th Annual Youth in Music Championships

This Marching Band Festival is becoming the largest Championships in the Upper Midwest.  We are well known for our professional judging panels and fun marching band dance between the morning show and the evening show.  This event will take place on October 22, 2011 in the HHH Metrodome from 11am-11pm.  A wonderful day of performances and fun for your band!

Interested in researching your family tree?  A "Family History Fair" will be presented at the Central Library. The program is free and registration begins September 24. Register online or call 612-843-8000.

Geneology experts will present information sessions on resources available, how to gather family stories, and useful software. Ethnic and genealogy interest tables staffed by local and national organizations will also be available.  Free talks by genealogy experts are scheduled from 10:00am to 1:00pm. 

Hennepin County Library's websiteoffers many additional resources for family history researchers. Free access to recommended websites and significant databases are available through the genealogy subject guides.

Take an in-depth look at the historic Washburn A Mill complex and the award-winning Mill City Museum building on a guided tour of the building. A museum interpreter will take visitors into the building’s many nooks and crannies, highlighting the lives of the men and women who worked there, how the building functioned during its peak flour milling years, and the many changes to the building over time. Also covered will be how the mill ruin was converted to a museum and office building.

Although many parts of the A mill can be explored on a self-guided basis during a regular museum visit, this is the only opportunity for a guided tour through the entire museum building, and the only chance to see some of its non-public spaces. The tour includes admission to the museum gallery as well as the Flour Tower show.

What was the inspiration for the set? Was the play rewritten in rehearsals? Aren't those wigs itchy? Through these eye-opening workshops, you can learn how the Guthrie's artists and staff create a production - from early development and designs to rehearsal, costume fittings and staging of the play.

How'd They Do That Workshops take place on Saturday mornings (unless otherwise noted).

$15 per person for each workshop.

How might each of our stories be different if along the way even one of us altered our step? Lovers of poetry, friends of the published poets and the general public are all invited to attend a celebratory evening of poetry, conversation, food and drink.

This limited edition anthology was conceived, designed and letter-press printed by George Roberts (DownStairs Press) as an expression of gratitude for 50 years of poetry—both writing and living in the company of other poets. Limited edition copies of this unique book will be available for purchase the evening of the reading. Several authors from the anthology will be in attendance.
