Location: Wander North Distillery, 771 Harding St NE

Riverscape: a conversation on riverfront revitalization

Hosted by Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership

Free event, but please register

The Minneapolis Riverfront is a constantly evolving landscape of parks, homes, offices, and industry. That landscape has been undergoing dramatic change in recent decades - first in the Central Riverfront downtown, and more recently in the Upper Riverfront above St. Anthony Falls.

How is this riverfront evolution progressing? What areas are seeing healthy change? What areas need more attention? What areas might act as a model for future revitalization efforts? What might we do to accelerate positive change?

Join us at Wander North Distillery for great local drinks, as we launch into an in-depth exploration of riverfront change through the lenses of economic health, riverfront access, community engagement, and natural resources. Come with your ideas and questions.

Accompanied by the last boy-virgin in the eleventh grade, Moll crosses chasms and rafts rivers into a world where sound is always more than what meets the ear. April 25, 2016, Monday - East Downtown District Branding Initiative Community Meeting

Time: 6:00pm

Location: North Central University Trask Worship Center

EAST DOWNTOWN DISTRICT BRANDING INITIATIVE COMMUNITY MEETING

        * * * MESSAGE FROM THE EAST DOWNTOWN COUNCIL * * *

Dear People and Organizations of Elliot Park and Downtown East and the DMNA,

The leadership of the East Downtown Council invites you to attend a special multi-organizational meeting on Monday, April 25, 6pmat North Central University’s Trask Worship Center located at 910 Elliot Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55404. This meeting will provide an overview of the multi-year district branding process, present a distilled slate of three potential names for our district, and solicit feedback from the audience. The featured presenter of the meeting will be Kelly O’Keefe, Professor, Creative Brand Management at Virginia Commonwealth University, a national voice who has worked on brand initiatives with cities, universities, businesses, non-profits, and neighborhoods.

Still wondering what this initiative is all about? There has been a great deal of media coverage on our initiative with the Star Tribune providing the following concise statement of intent:

“With so many different uses popping up at once, developers and community leaders are left wondering whether this is becoming a tourism district or an up-and-coming residential neighborhood, a place to relax and recreate or a place for diverse-income housing and human services. The East Downtown Council says that it can be all, but that a larger umbrella name is needed to describe the district so that one portion of it doesn’t hijack the identity or fall short of capturing all that it offers.”

There is on street and ramp parking near NCU’s Trask Worship Center. Thank you for your passion for East Downtown our district and all that our businesses and neighborhoods do to create a vital community amidst unprecedented period of growth.
