June 7, 2017, Wednesday - Public Hearing on Draft Minneapolis Park Police Body Worn Camera Policy
Time: 6:30pm
Location: MPRB Headquarters Board Room, 2117 West River Road
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is holding a public hearing on the draft Minneapolis Park Police Body Worn Camera Policy on June 7 at 6:30pm.
The Park Police Department seeks to develop a body-worn camera (BWC) policy and contract with a vendor for hardware, data storage, and data management services. All sworn/licensed officers, assigned to patrol duties, are proposed to have body-worn cameras upon project completion. BWC program goals include: increased Park Police officer accountability, better documentation and evidence, and a reduction in conduct complaints and applications of force.
During the hearing, interested members of the public have a chance to comment on the policy in directly to the Board of Commissioners.
Review and Comment - Public comments will be accepted until June 20. The policy is available online on the Minneapolis Park Police web page.
