Minneapolis Parks Foundation presents: Sunrise on the Mississippi

The Minneapolis Parks Foundation will be putting up the big tent for the third annual Sunrise on the Mississippi. This memorable event brings together community and civic leaders in support of transformative parks.

The featured speaker is journalist and outdoorsman James Edward Mills, author of The Adventure Gap: Changing the Face of the Outdoors. Mills is an adventurer and award-winning journalist and author, who grew up exploring the outdoors with his family. He writes about outdoor recreation, the environment, charitable giving and sustainable living, and minority issues. He’s worked in and written about the outdoor industry since 1989. He lives in Wisconsin with his family. Mills observes that minority populations are much less likely to seek recreation, adventure and solace in our wilderness spaces. Mills will talk about this cultural situation and create a compelling case for ALL Americans to enjoy and protect the great outdoors.
