9/18/14 UPDATE:  If you are registered to attend this business forum, please note the change of address for the event. The business forum will take place at the VAST Center's Materials and Engineering Building located at 312 11th Avenue South.

Time: 11:30am to 1:00pm

Location: Valspar's Applied Science and Technology Center, 1101 S. Third Street (map)

The first business  EDC Business Forum of the 2014-2015 season is coming up on Thursday, September 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It will take place at Valspar's Applied Science and Technology Center. The title of the September forum is "Committed to Corporate Growth in the East Downtown."

Valspar Corporation is the fifth-largest manufacturer of paints and coatings in the world, with $4.1 billion in annual revenue, and traces its beginnings to 1806. In 2012-2014 Valspar contracted with EDC Member Kraus-Anderson Construction Company and spent more than $30 million to restore an 87,000 square foot vintage structure on S. 3rd Street that was once its headquarters. Kraus-Anderson achieved award-winning results and this important investment in East Downtown has contributed to the revitalization of our district next to the Hiawatha light-rail line. The building houses a “best-in-class” laboratory as well as meeting and office space.

Guest speakers for this event include: Steven Erdahl, Executive Vice President, Valspar Corporation; Dr. Cynthia Arnold, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Valspar Corporation; and John Campobasso, Vice President and Director of Marketing, Kraus-Anderson Construction Company.

The cost to attend the forum is $20, which can be paid at the door. Please RSVP to info@edcmpls.org, by no later than Monday, September 15, at Noon. Additional details regarding the forum will be posted on the EDC Web site in the few days.
