Women’s Human Rights Film Series: Saving Face Film and Discussion

An Academy Award-winning film chronicling the lives of two acid-attack survivors in Pakistan, Zakia and Rukhsana, as they attempt to bring their assailants to justice and move on with their lives. Film introduction and discussion led by staff at The Advocates for Human Rights.

Everyday, somewhere in the world, someone – most likely a woman – is victimized by a brutal acid attack while numerous other cases go unreported. Many reported assailants, often a husband or someone else known to the victim, receive minimal if any punishment for this grave human rights violation. The Academy Award-winning film, “Saving Face” chronicles the lives of two acid-attack survivors in Pakistan, Zakia and Rukhsana, as they attempt to bring their assailants to justice and move on with their lives.

Co-sponsored by The Advocates for Human Rights, The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library and Friends of the Hennepin County Library.
