Today at Mill City Farmers Market: Bread Festival

At the Market this Saturday, you will find: Arugula, basil, beets, blueberries, broccoli, cabbage, cantaloupe, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cherry tomatoes, chickweed, chives, cilantro, cucumbers, currants, dill, dried beans, eggplant, fennel, garlic, green beans, green peppers, ground cherries, head lettuce, heirloom beans, herbs, kale, kohlrabi, lemon thyme, mushrooms, muskmelon, okra, onions, oregano, peas, pac choi, potatoes, purplette onions, radishes, raspberries, rhubarb, salad mix, scallions, snow peas, spring onions, sugar snap peas, summer squash, sweet corn, Swiss chard, tarragon, tomatoes, totsoi, turnips, watermelon, zucchini, and much more!
 
Mill City BAKES, 10 am: Don’t miss this exciting demo today, complete with an outdoor oven and pizza-making demo provided by Lorenzo’s Ovens. Local celebrity bakers Zoe Francois and Jeff Hertzberg will join us for baking demonstrations starting at 10:00 am.
 
Bread Baking Contest: During the demos, a fantastic team of judges, including Steve Horton from Rustica Bakery and Sun Street Breads’ Solveig Tofte will be evaluating the submissions to Mill City’s fourth Bread Baking Contest under two categories: Quick Breads and Yeasted Breads.  The Current’s Mark Wheat will once again entertain us as emcee!
 
Community Booth, all day: Compatible Technologies International is a nonprofit organization that alleviates hunger and poverty in the developing world by designing and distributing simple, affordable food and water tools. They will demo grain grinders and other inventions that are changing lives around the world.
 
Kids Activities, all day: Thanks to volunteers from OHK Grange, kids can get creative at our Crop Art booth, where seeds are used to create works of art!  Kids will also be happy to know they can stop by and pet their furry friends from Oliver H. Kelley’s Farm!
 
Live Music, 11 am – 1 pm: MCFM welcomes the Roe Family Singers back to the Market today! This local jug band blends characteristic old-time sound with rock & roll influence.
 
Art Market, all day: Featuring Barn Swallow Garden, Jo Severson Stoneware, Chris Chookiatsirichai, and Woodsport.
