Breakfast With a Preservationist: An Illustrated History of Minnehaha Creek

More details on the Facebook event page.
Join us historians Tom Balcom, Bob Frame, and Dick Kronick will present an illustrated history of Minnehaha Creek. Kronick will discuss the early history of the creek when it was strong enough to power six different mill sites. Frame will then explain how early grist mills worked — and how the invention of the middlings separator caused a revolution in flour milling. Balcom will conclude the presentation by discussing the history of the creek since 1897 when a dam was placed at its head at Gray’s Bay on Lake Minnetonka -- transforming it into a relatively tame amenity for Minneapolis and suburban parklands.
