October 4, 2018, Thursday - 5th Annual Trans Equity Summit

Time: 10 am to 4 pm (on-site registration begins at 9 am)

Location: Hennepin Theater Trust, 900 Hennepin Avenue

5th Annual Trans Equity Summit

This year's summit focuses on health and wellness and features keynote speaker Kye Allums, a transgender pioneer in college athletics.

Co-hosted by the City of Minneapolis and the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (MPRB), the 5th annual Trans Equity Summit is now open for registration. The 2018 summit is organized around three breakout sessions:

  • Making healthcare more accessible and accepting for the transgender community
  • Learning skills to improve mental health and resiliency
  • Tackling pervasive issues relating to health and social support

The program for the October 4 event also includes: 

  • Keynote panel by Kye Allums, the first African American openly transgender athlete in sports history
  • Update on trans equity work happening within the City of Minneapolis
  • Presentations by local organizations leading the charge on transgender health equity
  • Opportunities to meet members of the Transgender Equity Council, the City’s newly appointed advisory board
