Location: The historic General Mills Research Labs at 2010 East Hennepin Avenue, just east of Stinson Boulevard in Minneapolis.
2010 Artblok Holiday Sale and Open Studios is a building-wide open house and sale featuring over 30 established artists in the historic former General Mills Research Labs at 2010 East Hennepin Avenue. Originally built in 1928, “The Labs” as the complex was formerly know, was home to General Mills for 50 years.
The complex now houses a vibrant community of artists, many of whom are award winning and regionally and nationally recognized. Artists include printmaker Faye Passow, also famous for her Minnesota Hot Dish and Marvels dish towels, painter Karlyn Eckman, glass artists Steve Claypatch, Nicole Fierce, Shawn Kearney and Kelly Nezworski along with Foci, Minnesota Center for Glass Arts. Also showing will be metalworkers Marlaine Cox and Asa Hoyt, sculptor Roger Junk, fine leatherwork by Nisko Leather, fiber artists Melissa Nellis and Julie Nester and guests artist Richard T. Brewer and Jennifer Bong
The open house will include work in a broad range of media including painting, printmaking, drawing, pottery, textile arts, metal smithing, sculpture, jewelry, leatherwork, and glass and glassblowing. In addition to great art and glassblowing demos, B. T. McElrath - Chocolatiers will be hosting a chocolate sale on Friday and Saturday of the open house.
