Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership presents: River Matters: The Upper River: Our Next Big Development Opportunity?

The revitalization of Minneapolis’ Central Riverfront is one of our city’s great urban success stories. But there is more Mississippi Riverfront — more than five miles of it — above St. Anthony Falls, and it is poised for transformation as well. The City of Minneapolis and Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board are currently considering plans for the Upper Harbor Terminal, 48 acres of city-owned land near Dowling Avenue. Longtime visions of open space and trails along the Upper River are being realized.

How can this transformation benefit the region, the city and those who live nearby? What can we learn from other cities that have reclaimed their riverfront? Join Peter Hendee Brown, Jim Vos and the Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership for a discussion of the potential and the challenges of redeveloping Minneapolis’ Upper River. Peter authored America’s Waterfront Revival: Port Authorities and Urban Redevelopment, an in-depth look at the urban renewal of four very different waterfronts. Jim, with more than 30 years in the commercial real estate industry, is often called upon by the media to provide perspective on economic trends and their impact on corporate real estate markets.

A complimentary light breakfast will be served. River Matters is a quarterly series of discussions among key civic leaders around the opportunities of riverfront revitalization in the Minneapolis' Upper River. River Matters is an initiative of the Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership. Special thanks to their sponsors for this event: CenterPoint Energy and Highland Bank. Free.
