November 14, 2013, Thursday - Sounds Like Home Benefit for People Serving People at Triple Rock Social Club
Time: 7:00pm
Location: Triple Rock Social Club, 629 Cedar Avenue
People Serving People is continuing their mission of helping families find their way home. In partnership with 89.3 The Current, the organization is hosting the 2nd annual Sounds Like Home concert at The Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis on Friday, November 14, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. with multiple bands performing.
Local musician, Astronautalis will headline the evening. As a genre-bending artist that started in music over 15 years ago as a battle rapper, Astronautalis’ roots are planted firmly in hip-hop. Astronautalis and Doomtree’s P.O.S. have joined forces to create Four Fists. On October 8, 2013 you can find their 7-inch single release via Doomtree Records. Additional performances include: Night Moves (Electro-Glam-Folk-Rock), Fort Wilson Riot (Indie-Pop-Prog-Rock) and Strange Names (Pop-Visual-Alternative).
All proceeds from the concert will go directly towards People Serving People’s programming for homeless children and their families. Family homelessness continues to rise, and People Serving People sheltered 1,235 families last year. More than 2,500 volunteers and donors support the futures of homeless children and their families at People Serving People, but more help is required. This concert will raise more needed support for homeless children.
“As 2013 draws to a close, the number of homeless children and families at People Serving People continues to grow,” Daniel Gumnit, People Serving People Executive Director said. “We depend on the generosity of Minnesotans donating their time, money and expertise to make a positive difference in the lives of the children we serve. By working together, we can get serious about ending the cycle of poverty and homelessness for these families.”
