Time: 8:00am - 1:00pm

Location: 704 South 2nd Street

Today at Mill City Farmers Market: 2017 Opening Day!

The rooster is crowing. It's Opening Day for the Mill City Farmers Market! Shop the market for fresh spring produce and local artisanal goods. Celebrate the arrival of spring with fragrant bouquets, local gifts, and fun family activities from 8am to 1pm. Enjoy the much-awaited growing season at this downtown market located in between the Guthrie Theater and the Mill City Museum.

Produce Planner: Arugula, asparagus, baby bok choi, beets, carrots, fiddleheads, fingerling potatoes, green garlic, herbs, kale, lettuce, microgreens, morels, mustard greens, nettles, pac choi, ramps, salad turnips, spinach, spring onions, Swiss chard and vegetable plants more!

Mill City Cooks, 10:30am: Learn how to cook market meals in our free, chef-led cooking demo, Mill City Cooks, offered every Saturday in the train shed patio at 10:30. This Saturday, market chef Jenny Breen will be cooking a spring menu. Plus, our kids’ tables at the demo always feature coloring sheets and other engaging activities, giving adults some free time to relax with a cup of coffee and learn tips and easy seasonal recipes from our market chefs. Samples and recipe cards are available at each demo—or check out our recipe archive!

Lakewinds Food Co-op is the new sponsor of the Mill City Cooks weekly cooking demos! The new kids area in our Mill City Cooks cafe features activities for our youngest market visitors, giving adults some time to relax and learn tips and tricks for preparing easy, seasonal recipes! Stop by the Lakewinds booth on the Chicago Mall for a free market bag.

Kid's Activities: Power of Produce “PoP“ veggie tasting club is at the information tent every Saturday! Kids ages 3-12 can earn a $2 token to spend on fruits and veggies by tasting a local, seasonal vegetable, as a way to empower kids to make healthy eating decisions. Learn more.

Guthrie Story Time is the first Saturday of every month at 9:30 and 10 in the green music tent by the Guthrie stairs. Join Guthrie Theater actor H. Adam on the blue mats for 20-minute theatrical readings of our favorite kids’ books!

Live Music: Jack Klatt will be preforming Americana folk music from 11 – 1 in the green music tent by the Guthrie stairs.

Art Market: Shop for handmade jewelry, ceramics and other artisan goods in our weekly rotating art market, located in the train shed near the entrance to the Museum. This week we are featuring Indigo & Snow hand-dyed apparel, Christy Wetzig Ceramics, Aprilierre jewelry and Crookedwood woodworking.

Community Booth: Hennepin County Master Gardeners – Get your spring gardening questions answered and learn some tips for planting a spring garden (or patio pots!) from Master Gardener volunteers at their booth on the top of the Chicago Mall, near Spoonriver restaurant.
