May 19, 2018, Saturday - 10th Wave Concert at Boom Island Brewing

Time: 7 – 9 pm

Location: Boom Island Brewing, 2014 Washington Avenue N

10th Wave Concert

Anyone who has followed the trajectory of the live music played in Boom Island’s taproom can recall visits from professional orchestras, hard bop jazz outfits, tuba quartets, a ska band and even a gonzo punk band. Now for something completely different: 10th Wave, a local group of professional musicians dedicated to performing quality classical and modern chamber music. 10th Wave will perform both old and new compositions for anyone who wishes to intently listen or use it as a soundtrack for a conversation in the taproom. Assembled as a collective of musicians -- playing marimba to clarinet to cello -- this ensemble adapts to perform in any configuration from a solo performer to a small chamber orchestra. The composers will include Andy Akiho, Marc Mellits, Astor Piazzolla, Kevin Puts and more. The music is modern, intriguing and slightly high-brow hip. There is no fee for this performance, but a $10 donation is suggested and appreciated. For information: http://boomislandbrewing.com/events/2018/10th-wave-concert.
