Time: 9:00pm $8
Location: Aster Cafe, 125 Main Stree SE
Tonight: Nathan Eliot + Verskotzi + Lynn O’Brien Trio
Nathan Eliot:
Nathan Eliot will release his debut album, Universe in Me, in March 2014, with additional instrumentation by drummer Alex Young, cellist Dan Lawonn, bassist Andrew Foreman, and producer/multi-instrumentalist Andy Thompson. Achingly beautiful, his melodic whirlpools are found to be emotionally rich and intricately arranged journeys asking questions about the small and unique place in the universe that humans occupy. His clear tenor floats over each instrument he plucks or strums: warm, acoustic tones; chunky, electric wails; or bright, urgent mandola arpeggios.
Verskotzi:
Hailing from Minneapolis, MN, Verskotzi is Joey Verskotzi, Izaac Burkhart, Grady Kenevan & Ian Allison. Verskotzi released their new album, Lemon Heart, on November 2, 2013 at Icehouse. The album was produced by Izaac Burkhart at The Color Lounge in Minneapolis. Drawing from his 60′s, 70′s & indie rock influences, Joey has crafted an album that reveals his ‘roots’ musical tastes, and depicts his issues of addiction, trust, and relying on yourself to get through and out of the valleys.
Lynn O’Brien Trio:
Lynn O’Brien is a self-taught singer/songwriter and instrumentalist (piano, guitar, baritone & tenor ukulele, flute, loop pedal) and board-certified Music Therapist in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has 3 original albums under her belt, always with a new creative project up her sleeve. Her uniquely powerful, pure voice and thoughtfully composed songs on a variety of acoustic instruments illustrate joy, sorrow, playfulness, and presence. Lynn’s music seems to transform each audience into a peaceful family, and each stage into an intimate living room.
