June 22, 2019, Saturday - Foodie Four Mile Run/Walk

Race Time is 8:00am

Location: B.F. Nelson Park, 434 Main St. NE

Foodie Four Mile Run/Walk

Join us in Northeast Minneapolis as we celebrate Opening Day of our Farmers Market with the Foodie Four Mile, a fun-run/walk. The route will encompass the Historic St. Anthony Falls Historic Milling District and offer stunning downtown views. Starting in B.F. Nelson Park in Northeast the course follows the Mississippi River crossing the Stone Arch Bridge, through the west-side wooded parks, then returns Northeast on the Plymouth Bridge.

The Cause
The Foodie Four Mile is a fundraiser for the Northeast Minneapolis Farmers Market and the Emergency Foodshelf Network's "Harvest For the Hungry" program. The Emergency Foodshelf Network is an innovative food bank serving the hunger needs of Minnesota’s changing communities and Harvest for the Hungry purchases fresh, locally-grown produce from CSA farms to provide to Minnesota households facing hunger.

The race swag
We will be giving out cooking aprons to all participants in place of the usual race T-Shirt. This high quality black apron will be embroidered with the Northeast Minneapolis Farmers Market Logo as well the "running leek" mascot. Guaranteed to fit and useful to boot. In he pocket of the apron will be $5 in Market Bucks - good as cash at the market all year long. Head up the street to our opening day, and check it out!

Post race food and refreshments
With a name like Foodie Four Mile, you know it's going to be good. We've lined up our friends at the Eastside Food Co-op, Equal exchange, and Great Harvest to provide the after race smorgasbord. Highlights include cookies, bananas, trail mix, wheat biscuits, and iced coffee and tea.

Zero Waste Event
We are looking to run a waste-free event. Everything we use on site will be compostable. We are asking if you bring anything to the starting area, please be prepared to take it with you when you leave. Pack it in / pack it out, less waste makes us all lighter and faster.
