June 15, 2019, Saturday - Boom Days Riverside Cleanup

Time: 9:30 AM – 1 PM

Location: Boom Island Brewing Company, 2014 Washington Ave N

Boom Days Riverside Cleanup

Help make a positive impact on the local environment with our Riverside Cleanup Initiative! Join us for an adventurous Mississippi River cleanup and relax with a Cuvee de Boom afterwards.

9:30 AM: Volunteers will meet at the Boom Island Brewing Taproom and be escorted to our riverside cleanup on the banks of the Mississippi. We will work with Mississippi Park Connection, the nonprofit partner to the national park in the Twin Cities metro area. Our goal is to amass a group of 50 people and clean the west river bank from Ole Olson Park down to the inlet of Bassett Creek.

All will be invited to the brewery afterward to kick off Boom Days with discounted beer and the tapping of Cuvée de Boom. Paddle Bridge Guide Collective will offer discounted kayak tours to volunteers. Float back to the brewery with a trained guide and admire your work. Enjoy a unique view of the river and its freshly cleaned environs!

** Mississippi Park Connection will lead the trash pick up alongside national park service rangers from the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. Join them to help make the river cleaner and improve habitat!
** Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board will provide interactive water quality activities. Engage in a discussion on water quality and see some some macroinvertebrates up close and personal. The party never begins until the macroinvertebrates make an appearance!
** Mississippi River Paddle Share – People can reserve a spot to be transported a mile up river by a Paddle Bridge guide, and float back down river near the brewery.
** Mpls Water Taxi – Sign up for a pleasure cruise of the Mississippi. Experience the Mississippi River above St. Anthony Falls in Minneapolis, or cruise downstream to the Upper Lock, or feel the energy and power of St. Anthony Falls. Check out the Lowry Ave. Bridge to see the amazing Blue Heron rookery. Returning downstream you can bask in a seldom seen view of the city from
the river!
