June 12, 2015, Friday - Minnstameets Event at Gold Medal Park

Time: 6:00pm

Location: Gold Medal Park

Rita Farmer and Jill Emmer created Minnstameets less than a year ago after hosting a string of successful Instameets on their own.

An Instameet is a gathering of photographers who take pictures using only their mobile device and post the results on Instagram. Rita and Jill say, if you live in Minnesota and you are a photographer who uses Instagram, then you are already a member of Minnstameets.

The larger Minnstameet events attract around 200 attendees—such as their holiday party last year—and some of the smaller events have about 50 to 60 participants. “One thing we love to see is when people meet one another for the first time at one of our large events and then connect again later to shoot photos in a smaller group setting,” Rita says.

Rita and Jill plan about one Minnstameet event every two months. When brainstorming a Minnstameet location, the women try to look for a place that is both photogenic and lends itself to beautiful images.
