June 1, 2012, Friday - Barton Sutter Publication Reading at The Loft

Tme:  7:00 pm

Location: The Loft, (Performance Hall) 1011 Washington Avenue South, Performance Hall

Barton Sutter Publication Reading

Three-time Minnesota Book Award winner Barton Sutter will give a publication reading for his new collection The Reindeer Camps and Other Poems. Bart's brother Ross will provide complementary music for the event. The Sutter Brothers have performed as a poetry-and-music duo all over the state and beyond—from Sandstone's Quarry Days to the International Poetry Forum in Pittsburgh.

Ross is known for his rich baritone voice and mastery of an impressive array of instruments: guitar, button accordion, mountain dulcimer, and Irish drum. Reviewing Bart's poetry in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Carol Connolly wrote that it "restores your faith in the drumbeat of your own heart," and the late Bill Holm called the title poem of his new book "unlike anything Sutter (or anyone else) has done before."
