January 7, 2012, Saturday - “Jigs and Jives" Family Music Event at MacPhail

Time: 10:00am-11:00am  or  11:00am–Noon

Location: MacPhail Center for Music, 501 2nd Street South

“Jigs and Jives" - Featuring Willow Brae

Learn folklore, history and hear the dance rhythms of Ireland and Scotland with the music of Willow Brae. The concert will feature airs, reels and jigs played on a variety of wind instruments and harp.

Free Familty Music Series A family event for music-loving families, as well as for those who want to explore music for the first time! The centerpiece of this series is a live concert. Before and after each concert, the musicians will give free sample lessons to kids and adults on the instruments featured in the concert. MacPhail Early Childhood Music staff will also be on site to engage families in a music-themed art project. Light refreshments will follow the concert.
 
Plus, before and after each concert, kids of all ages will get the chance to meet the musicians and try the instruments featured in the performance.
