January 27, 2011, Thursday - NT Live presents FELA! at the Guthrie

Time: 7:30 pm

Location: Guthrie Theater

The Guthrie Theater continues its participation in NT Live – an initiative by the United Kingdom’s National Theatre to broadcast high-definition performances of its plays to more than 300 venues worldwide. The Guthrie will be the Upper Midwest’s only screening venue. Using his pioneering music (a blend of jazz, funk and African rhythm and harmonies), the Tony Award-winning musical FELA! reveals Kuti’s controversial life as an artist and political activist, with Sahr Ngaujah as Fela Anikulpao-Kuti.

Featuring many of Fela Kuti’s most captivating songs and Bill T. Jones’ visionary staging, FELA! – an original new creation – comes via Broadway to London and the National Theatre and cinemas worldwide.

Tickets on sale through the Guthrie Box Office at 612-377-2224, toll-free 877-44-STAGE, 612-225-6244 (Group Sales) and online
