January 22, 2011, Saturday - Drop the Mic Hip Hop Expressions at the Guthrie

Location: Guthrie Theater

Curated by the local choreographers of Curio Dance, Giselle Mejia and Dario Mejia, Drop the Mic! is a culmination of the most talented and dedicated dancers in the Midwest. Drop the Mic! will be part performance, part breakdance competition and features more than 30 performers with dance styles including hip-hop, breakdance, krumpin, pop n lock, tap dance, bucket drumming, beat boxing and an electroluminescent light show. Dancin’ Dave and D-Skreet “Groove Fellaz”, B-Boy J-Sun, Buckets and Tap Shoes, Christ Up Dance Crew, HYPE Dance Company, Obtuse Crew, Tish Jones, Ti-en-T, The Beat Squad and the DG Light Dancers are scheduled to appear.

Presented by Sue McLean & Associates as part of the Live at the Guthrie series.

The Live at the Guthrie concert series has a long-standing history of providing an eclectic mix of music and comedy appealing to a wide range of audiences. Illustrious performers such as James Taylor, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Robin Williams and the Indigo Girls all performed at the Guthrie in the early years of their careers. More recent performers have included Nanci Griffith, Five for Fighting, Bela Fleck, Mos Def, Max Weinberg and Keri Noble.
