January 12, 2012, Thursday - Brenda, My Darling with Eric Utne at The Loft

Time: 7:00pm

Location: The Loft, Performance Hall, 1011 Washington Avenue South

The Loft is pleased to partner with Utne Institute on a publication celebration of Brenda, My Darling: The Love Letters of Fridtjof Nansen to Brenda Ueland. Winner of the 1922 Nobel Peace Prize, Nansen met Ueland, author of If You Want to Write, in New York City in 1929. The two shared an intense, year-long correspondence until his death. Nansen's letters have been called "some of the most passionate, candid and eloquent in the English language," and "a true love song." Complemented by a sampling of Ueland's published work and unpublished diaries, Brenda, My Darling offers profound insight into the lives of two extraordinary individuals. Eric Utne, editor of the collection, step-grandson of Ueland, and founder of Utne Reader, will read from and discuss the book. A reception follows.
