February 22, 2018, Thursday - Arts & Ales: Leather Working - Combo Class (Belt or Clutch) at Indeed Brewing

Time: 5:30p - 9:00p

Location: Indeed Brewing Company, 711 15th Ave NE

Arts & Ales: Leather Working - Combo Class (Belt or Clutch)

Inspired by the art of beer and local artisans, we’ve created a brand-new installment in our Arts & Ales Event Series: Leather Working. For this event, we are proud to join forces with Indeed Brewing Company and Blue Door Pub – who will begin each evening by serving up a pint of beer and a locally-crafted meal in Indeed’s private event space – “The Ox”. After enjoying the artful beer and food, we are sure to be inspired for our next “craft” – Leather Working.

The time-honored tradition of manipulating and sewing leather into usable forms creates not only beautiful keepsakes, but functional statement pieces that can be used for generations. We are proud to partner up with custom leather worker, Merchant Leather, to bring you not one, but TWO different leather working projects that you can choose from to create and enjoy for years to come.

Leather Clutch Purse Making

Clutch Purse Making allows you to create a truly unique leather clutch that is sure to make you the talk of the town. You will learn how to use classic techniques to construct a useful and beautiful hand-crafted masterpiece. Learn the basics of working with leather including selecting hides from several materials and colors, pattern making, hardware selection, cutting, punching and piercing leather, and saddle stitching – as well as finishing and care.  Choosing from several different colors of leather, as well as styles of clasps.

Leather Belt Making

Belt Making invites you to create a one-of-a-kind keepsake belt that will take your style to the next level. Learn the basics of working with leather including selecting hides from several materials and colors, pattern making, hardware selection, cutting, punching and piercing leather, and saddle stitching – as well as finishing and care. Choosing from several different widths and colors of leather, as well as styles of buckle, will allow you to fashion a belt that will be uniquely you.

For these classes, we will learn how to fold, sew, and punch the leather to fashion each design. Learning from the pros at Merchant Leather, you are sure to leave with not only a new self-crafted product, but new skills, knowledge, and appreciation that you can put to use in the future!

Built to last, these Clutches and Belts are “classically styled and crafted by hand – and designed for everyday use for generations to come”. Not just an art class, we invite you to join us to make something for yourself or as a gift that will certainly be treasured and well used. Join us for one of these special Arts & Ales events to tap into your creative side, release your inner artist, and create a unique heirloom that is sure to be a truly prized possession.
