Author Talk: Thank You for Shopping – The Golden Age of Minnesota Department Stores

Take a nostalgic trip back to the glory days of the downtown department stores, when shops such as Dayton's, Donaldson's, Powers, and Young-Quinlan ruled the retail landscapes of downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. Kristal Leebrick, author of the new book "Thank You for Shopping – The Golden Age of Minnesota Department Stores," will present the history and stories behind these stores, which were once the centers of social life in the Twin Cities. Books will be available for purchase. Department store material from Hennepin County Library's Minneapolis History Collection will be on display, including photos, catalogs, menus and more.
