December 11, 2016, Sunday - Live Music at Aster Cafe

Time: 8:000pm $5

Location: Aster Cafe, 125 Main Street SE

Tonight:  Daniel Schwartz + Gabriel Andrews (Finger-Style Acoustic Folk)

Daniel Schwartz: Starting at the very beginning, his dad’s interest in The Grand Ole Opry and his mom’s fondness for American Bandstand immersed Dan Schwartz in a wide variety of great music. This influence resonates in the range of music he composes, records and performs today in his solo work and with group: The Neighborhood Trio. Dan has written and released nine CDs and has been featured on several internationally released acoustic guitar compilations including Narada Records Masters of Acoustic Guitar. His recordings have earned him a nomination for guitarists of the year (Minnesota Music Academy) and local Folk/roots album of the year (Mpls. St Paul Magazine). He has a new solo CD in the works – a collection of finger-style guitar tunes played on harp guitar and acoustic lap steel, to be released in fall 2016.

Gabriel Andrews is an emerging Australian acoustic guitarist, taking first prize in the 2014 Wilson Centre International Guitar Competition (Milwaukee, USA), and opening for Canadian Guitarist Jesse Cook in the evening showcase. 2015 saw Gabriel complete a Master of Music at the Peck School of the Arts, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, place third in the Kentucky International Home of the Legends Thumb-picking Championship, and reach the semi-final round of the ISC instrumental category for his composition “Here & Now.” The afore mentioned piece was recorded on his first solo album Pathways (2013), released at the Blue Mountains Music Festival in Sydney, Australia.
