August 21, 2010, Saturday - 2nd Annual Night Owl Classic – Twin Cities

The Night Owl Classic is a 16.5-mile or 8.5-mile non-competitive bike ride along the Mississippi River at dusk.  The ride will start and finish at historic St. Anthony Main and tour some of the Twin Cities most well known landmarks all with the backdrop of the setting sun, rising moon and twinkling skyline.

Riders will be welcomed by a pre-ride kick off and registration starting at 6:30pm.  Two rides will be offered:

A Family ride, 8.5-mile ride departing from 7:00-7:30PM

A Hoot of a ride, 16.5-mile adult departing from 7:30-8:00PM

Riders will pedal over, through and past these dynamic landmarks:

Nicollet Island

Boom Island

The Federal Reserve Building

The Historic Grain Belt Brewery Sign

Mill City Museum

Guthrie Theater

Lock and Dam

Dinkytown Trail Bike Bridge

Weisman Museum

Marshall Avenue Bridge

Ford Parkway – Intercity Bridge

Mississippi Gorge Park

University of Minnesota

Stone Arch Bridge

Father Hennepin Bluffs Park

A pre-ride “kick-off” with food, music and various biking stations including a tune your bike and decorate your bike for the ride.  Pit Stops along the route will offer riders a place to grab a snack, enjoy entertainment or take a moment to take in the scenery. A post-ride “party” will welcome riders back with food and music and the ability to park their bikes and continue their Night Owl festivities at historic St. Anthony Main bars and restaurants.
