August 15, 2012, Wednesday - First Presence – Native American Settlements in the Minneapolis Area – Richard LaFortune at Mill City Museum

Time: 8:00am to 9:00am

Location: ADM Conference Room, Mill City Museum, 710 South Second Street

First Presence – Native American Settlements in the Minneapolis Area – Richard LaFortune

Important Native American sites are spread throughout Minneapolis. Richard LaFortune will present a survey of ancestral domains including traditional settlements, burial grounds, treaty sites, trails and other places of Native American significance. In its traditional sense, historic preservation is based on the physical permanence of the architecture signifying the European immigrant-based culture. Richard will share how the architecture of native people arises from the earth.

This free event is part of Preserve Minneapolis' Breakfast With a Preservationist series.
