Cedar-Riverside Walking Tour

Take a guided walking tour of one of the most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods in Minneapolis, hearing firsthand stories from insiders along the way. For more than 150 years the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood has welcomed immigrants from all over the world. On this tour, hear about the area's music and theater history, including the 1960s folk and blues scene and how in the 1960s and 1970s college students, hippies, artists and others residents came together to successfully resist urban renewal plan. Then learn about the neighborhood's thriving art scene today and about new immigrant groups, specifically Somali, who are building businesses, places of worship and social service agencies.

This tour includes about 1.5 miles of moderately paced walking on uneven surfaces.
