August 12, 2014, Tuesday - Transportation on Tap: Parking at Republic

Time: 5:00pm - 7:00pm

Location: Republic, 221 Cedar Ave S

On Tuesday, August 12, Transit for Livable Communities welcomes you back to Republic for our third Transportation on Tap event of the year! Enjoy light appetizers on us and talk bike, walk, bus, and rail with other TLC members and friends. This month we'll dig into the topic of parking in the Twin Cities.

How do parking policies influence how we get around and how our neighborhoods develop? Who pays for free parking? How do parking spaces and placemaking initiatives intersect? Who is embracing bike parking? And how does parking in Minneapolis and Saint Paul compare to other cities nationally and internationally?

This Transportation on Tap, TLC has invited panelists from the City of Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Downtown Improvement Zone, and the City of Saint Paul to examine how our cities are thinking about parking. We'll explore policies, costs, demand, reform and innovation, ties to development and walkability, and more. TLC's Barb Thoman will moderate. Bring your questions for another lively conversation!

Featured Panel:
•Ben Shardlow, Director of Public Realm Initiatives, Minneapolis Downtown Improvement District
•Jason Wittenberg, Manager of Land Use, Design and Preservation, City of Minneapolis
•Sarah Zorn, Senior Project Manager, City of Saint Paul
•Barb Thoman (moderator), Executive Director, Transit for Livable Communities

We hope to see you on the 12th! All are welcome, but RSVPs are always appreciated.
