April 6, 2015, Monday - Trades Hiring Expo at Minneapolis Convention Center
Time: 7:00am – 10:00am
Location: The Minneapolis Convention Center, 1301 2nd Ave S
On Monday, April 6, 2015, the Minnesota Construction Crew will host the second annual Trades Hiring Expo at the Minneapolis Convention Center from 7:00-10:00 am. The Minnesota Construction Crew Trading Expo is an opportunity for individuals seeking a career in the construction industry to meet with contractors and unions in person at the largest construction hiring event in Minnesota.
From 2012-2022, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 20 percent increase in the need for workers in many skilled trades including, carpentry, roofing, cement masonry, and bricklaying. Attendees will be able to speak directly with potential employers and some union halls representing various skilled trades including electricians, roofers, and carpenters with up to 200 positions available depending on the trade.
Construction Hiring Connection, a program of Ramsey County Workforce Solutions, will also be registering job seekers into their talent database for future hiring opportunities and job leads. Additionally, up to eight union halls will be present to answer questions about their trades and pathways into union apprenticeship training programs. Veterans, women, and people of color are encouraged to attend.
The Minnesota Construction Crew Trades Hiring Expo is produced by a volunteer committee made up of construction contractors, unions and government agencies including JeDunn Construction, McGough, the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters, Minneapolis Building Trades Council, Ramsey County, Ryan Companies, and Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. The event is made possible with support provided by the City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County.
