Morning Forum - Researching Tangletown

This April we have a special bonus Morning Forum for you! Our first Morning Forum looked at Minneapolis alleys, and our second on April 24 will focus on the process three young preservationists underwent to learn more about the unique architecture of the Tangletown neighborhood.

Three Macalester students have been working with Preserve Minneapolis to study a set of buildings in the Tangletown neighborhood of Minneapolis. In particular, they are exploring the history of the Washburn Park Water Tower, the Washburn Orphanage, and the collection of Lustron Houses present in the neighborhood.

This presentation is the first opportunity for these students to share their research with the public, after which point it will be compiled on Preserve Minneapolis' self-guided tour site - Minneapolis Historical (www.minneapolishistorical.org).

Mackenzie O’Brien is a senior at Macalester College studying Geography, Urban Studies, and History. She is originally from San Antonio, Texas.

Brooke Sapper is a first year at Macalester College from Ashland, Wisconsin. She studies History, Classics, and Spanish.

Emma Heuchert is a senior at Macalester College. She has a major in History, minors in Linguistics and Educational Studies, and an African Studies concentration. Born in South Africa, Emma was raised in Meadville, Pennsylvania.
