April 2, 2013, Tuesday - The Art of the Book at MCBA

Time: 5:30pm until 7:30pm.

Location: Open Book, 1011 Washington Avenue South

The Art of the Book

Join two stars of the book world for a behind-the-scenes tour of Minnesota Center for Book Arts. MCBA executive director Jeff Rathermel and Board member/literary storyteller extraordinaire Patrick Coleman will guide us through the gallery and studios, followed by a brief sit down and talk about some works from the collection and a hands-on activity binding our own simple softcover books.

As the largest, most comprehensive center of its kind in the nation, MCBA celebrates the book as a vibrant contemporary art form that takes many shapes. From the traditional crafts of papermaking, letterpress printing and bookbinding to non-traditional artmaking and self-publishing techniques, MCBA supports the limitless creative evolution of book arts.

Event includes wine and appetizers hosted by MinnPost Board member Carla Blumberg. 24 spots. $40 per person for MinnPost donors and their guests. $45 per person for others.
