More Than a Single Story: Men of Color in Today's America - A Dialogue Between Generations is a series of conversations curated by writer Carolyn Holbrook, inspired by Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's powerful TED talk, The Danger of a Single Story, showing how stereotypes are fostered when we treat one story of a people as their only story.

This event is free and open to the public. No registration required.

More Than a Single Story is a series of conversations curated by writer Carolyn Holbrook, inspired by Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s powerful TED talk, The Danger of a Single Story, showing how stereotypes are fostered when we treat one story of a people as their only story.

The difficulties young men of color face today are oppressive and often life-threatening. From education to the justice system to stereotypes in the media to discriminatory public policies, the environment many young men of color grow up in is not conducive to their psychological health or to fulfilling their potential. Yet there are many young men of color who are succeeding despite the world around them and older men of color who are helping them.

This panel, moderated by David Mura, will provide a dialogue between younger and older men of color about the conditions they face in the current political and social climate and the strategies used to survive, help others and help themselves. Panelists include Alexs Pate, Carter Meland, Ricardo Levins Morales, Kevin Yang, Yevrah Bradley and Suleiman Ada.
