April 15, 2015, Wednesday - Public Hearing RE: Proposed Minneapolis Sculpture Garden Reconstruction at MPRB

Time:  6:30pm

Location:  Minneapolis Park and Rec Board Headquarters, 2117 West River Road North

PUBLIC HEARING

A public hearing regarding the proposed Minneapolis Sculpture Garden Reconstruction (726 Vineland Place, Mpls, 55403) is planned for 6:30 pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at the MPRB Headquarters, 2117 West River Road North, Minneapolis.  If approved, the plan is for construction to begin August 2015 with completion in spring of 2017. The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and Cowles Conservatory will be closed beginning October 2015 throughout the remainder of the construction.

All those attending the public hearing will have an opportunity to review the proposed design plans and share their comments with the Planning Committee of the MPRB Commissioners. If you are interested in speaking, please call (612) 230-6400 prior to the day of the meeting or, on the day of the meeting, sign up outside the board room before 6:25 pm.

Highlights of the proposed design include reconstruction of the four outdoor sculpture viewing rooms that make up the original phase of the sculpture garden, maintaining the spoon bridge and cherry sculpture and reconfiguring the northern portion of the garden to create more art display areas and better connect the garden to the community.

If you require reasonable modification because of a disability please call 612-230-6472 (or the Minnesota Relay System at 711) or email planning@minneapolisparks.org in advance of the meeting so arrangements can be made prior to the meeting. If you require language interpretation, please call 612-230-6472 or email planning@minneapolisparks.org at least two business days in advance of the meeting.

For more information on the project, please visit the project webpage (or go to www.minneapolisparks.org/currentprojects and select "Minneapolis Sculpture Garden Reconstruction") or contact Dana Murdoch, MPRB Project Manager, at (612) 230-6446 or dmurdoch@minneapolisparks.org.
