April 10, 2011, Sunday - Concerto and Aria Concert at MacPhail Center for Music

Time:  3:30pm

Location:  MacPhail Center for Music, Antonello Hall, 501 South 2nd Street

The Concerto and Aria Concert is MacPhail's premier performance event featuring students performing solos with a professional orchestra under the baton of acclaimed guest conductor Cary John Franklin. The concert celebrates the highest honor that a MacPhail student can achieve. Soloists are selected by two rounds of competitive auditions. They receive award certificates and a special reception is held in their honor.

Featured soloists on the program are
Simon Blaine-Sauer, piano student of Reiko Imrie
Seiji Cataldo, violin student of Lucinda Marvin
Noah Dahlien, voice student of Audrey Stottler
Jasmine Lim, piano student of Irina Elkina
Benjamin Peterson, clarinet student of Nina Olsen
Michael Ware, piano student of Elise Midelfort

This year, Concerto and Aria includes compositions by Brahms, Kabalevsky, Schumann, Gounod, Mozart and Shostakovich. Join us for this rare opportunity to see six of MacPhail's finest students perform with an orchestra!
